This case study explores the philosophical implications of the motor vehicle as a key representative of a “gateway locale.” A gateway locale, in this context, refers to a space that facilitates transition and access, both spatial and existential, allowing for movement across boundaries that are typically imposed by geography, society, and systems of power. Arriving for the sole expression of this constitution, it made headway in its own territory, which had compelled the global front to follow its tracks.
The spatial distance between differing points is most effective in portraying the capability and ability to transgress those limitations, through a power device which can carry an individual to any point, at any moment, in whatever capacity. The unexplored junctions, that is, the presumed areas of inability, the off-limits by being of a different character and disposition, are granted access within the motor vehicle’s jurisdiction.
With an individual and their motor vehicle, without the slightest movement, there will be envisioned the limitless capabilities to which they are personified. The persona of this individual now has to follow a presumed entity to which there are no locations that will not be unable to be achieved; it is only a slight matter of time and minuscule energy. The only matter that has not been mastered in the motor vehicle is the time exhaustion required to accomplish the feat of passing through every potential locality, every assumed limitation. The teleporter is only slightly better, as it can accomplish this without the time expenditure. However, in every affect, the individual has the capability of the teleporter, in which location is not an external space, but a potential incorporation at any given moment.
The only resistance to this persona is the roads, its inhabitants, and the communal management of them. This will be of most frustration to the driver, as it struggles with the philosophy embedded in the handler of the vehicle, with its apparent limitations on the asphalt. The major cause of conflict is the managers of the stability of these systems, which is portrayed in the dynamic of the driver and authorities. For the latter can only be perceived as a limitation to the limitless capability which was promised to the driver and motor vehicle.
When there are multitudes of individuals practicing their capability to encompass all space, to reach all potentiality, they begin to congest each other’s pathway, causing instability to the road. This traffic is second on that list of philosophical frustration, for it makes it abundantly clear to all that each individual is inhibiting the other in their expansive reach on all of reality.
